A street supercar that thinks it’s a Formula 1 star, this 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider needs to be exercised on a race track to feel its true potential. This MP4-12C Spider is finished in Azure Blue Metallic with a carbon black interior that is punctuated by carbon-fiber trim pieces throughout. Entry and exit are through butterfly doors, in the best McLaren tradition. With a robust 616 HP powering its rear wheels, the mid-engine beast employs a M838T twin-turbocharged 3.8L/616 HP V-8 and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for rapid shifting. Grip is supplied from staggered-sized 235/35R19 front and 305/30R20 rear tires wrapped around granite-finished alloy wheels.
Weighing only 3,033 pounds, the MP4-12C Spider can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 3.2 seconds. This McLaren is capable of a 207 MPH top speed, for which its yellow brake calipers and cross-drilled rotors will come in handy to help slow it down again. And just in case you tire of the soundtrack from the twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, there is a stellar Meridian touchscreen audio system. The MP4-12C Spider features power windows, side mirrors and a two-piece power retractable roof that can deploy or retract in around 20 seconds.
Founded by legendary racer Bruce McLaren in 1963, the company has enjoyed stratospheric racing success with an amazing 182 Formula 1 victories, 12 World Drivers’ Championships, eight World Constructors’ Championships, three Indianapolis 500 wins and five consecutive Can-Am Championships. McLaren Group has grown into a conglomerate active in racing: McLaren Applied Technologies, which manufactures everything from composite materials for aerospace and electronics for racing teams including Formula 1, IndyCar and NASCAR to pharmaceutical products.
