  • German title
  • From an important Bavarian Sports Cars Collection
  • Attractive condition, older high-quality restoration
  • Original 4.9-litre engine (matching numbers)
  • Elegant and harmonious model
  • One of Giugiaro’s masterpieces
  • No reserve

As the Maserati factory has confirmed, this car was delivered new in white (‘Bianco Polo’) with blue leather upholstery. During its lifetime it was restored in Italy, and following this it was certified by the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI). The restoration has stood up very well to the passage of time, and more recently, the Citroën hydraulic braking system was replaced by a system from a Jaguar E-Type which is easier to maintain and nicer to use. It was bought in 2015 by its current owner, a leading Bavarian collector of Italian GTs, from a private enthusiast.

Since 2018, some 7,000 euros have been spent on service work carried out by History Car München, the workshop run by Bernd Werndl in Munich. The car shows no signs of accident damage and the paint, with a thickness measured at 300–500 microns, is of high quality. It is worth repeating that Maserati was ahead of Ferrari in offering, as early as 1971, a response to Lamborghini and its mid-engined Miura. The design of the new Bora was the work of Giorgetto Giugiaro, who created a shape with fine and understated lines, built around the quad-cam V8 from the Ghibli.

The Bora was one of the most harmoniously designed mid-engined cars of its day and its limited production – with just 564 cars built – makes it a rare model. The example we are offering therefore represents an interesting opportunity to buy a well-presented Bora with its original 4.9-litre V8, Maserati’s most powerful engine at the time.
