Nice condition and working order Attractive colour combination Superb Zagato design French historic regristration title Chassis n° 818362*001860 Presented in 1963, the Lancia Fulvia is an ambitious and innovative car, in the purest tradition of the Turin-based brand. Two years later, a very elegant coupé was announced, perhaps with a slightly too wise design, followed at the end of 1965 by a rather incisive version signed by Zagato, a strict 2-seater with a hatchback and a large boot, called Sport. The aerodynamics were very well thought out and the lines almost conventional for a car bearing the famous Z label!

While the first versions were entirely made of aluminium (915 kg on the scales), the following ones only kept the aluminium doors, but the light body allowed the fiery 1,200 cc (80 bhp) and then 1,300 cc (87 bhp) V4 to express itself fully. In November 1968, the 1.3S engine took over, increasing power to 90 bhp, a threshold barely sufficient to compensate for the all-steel body that appeared with the Series 2 in September 1970 (which was also distinguished by the addition of a small rear bench seat, transforming the Sport into a 2+2). In 1971, and for its last year of production, the Fulvia Sport received the 1,600 cc of the HF coupe, finally having 115 hp.

At the end of its production run, there were just over 7,000 Fulvia Sport models, of which 3,618 were Series 1. The one shown on these pages is a first series Sport, still benefiting from the aluminium doors, and - above all - the 1.3 S engine with 90 hp. It also has a small rear seat, foreshadowing the 2+2 version. Purchased in 2017 by its current owner from a Belgian dealer, the car looks good, especially as it has since been painted in its characteristic orange colour, even if the underpinnings and floors are not free of corrosion. The brakes have been overhauled, the clutch has been changed and the last technical inspection is almost blank.

The Fulvia Sport is a very attractive car in terms of its design and performance, as well as its superb handling. It is a very popular car for enthusiasts and one of the most affordable Zagato cars with character. This car is sure to please the enthusiast who wants to put the miles on the road in a reliable car that is relatively rare on our roads.
