Designed by Pininfarina, the Lancia Flaminia sedan made its debut at the Turin Motor Show in 1956 and embodied the idea of an Italian luxury car. The Flaminia was the successor to the Aurelia, but the monocoque construction was different and the traditional telescopic front suspension was replaced by a double wishbone with more modern coil springs. Two years later, still at the Turin Motor Show, Lancia and Touring presented a GT version of the Flaminia. Built on a wheelbase reduced from 2,870 to 2,520 cm, it is a Touring Superleggera designed car with a thin steel tube frame clad in aluminum.

The design is elegant and the interior bright thanks to a large rear window. The instrumentation is identical to that of the sedan, but the steering wheel differs, with a three-spoke design surrounded by a wooden rim. The elegant leather upholstery is distinguished by the design of the backrests with three wide ribs called «cloverleaf». Under the hood is a 2.5-liter V6 engine available with single and triple carburetors, developing 119 and 140 hp. Renowned for its modern handling, its four disc brakes, its de Dion rear axle and its 4-speed gearbox placed at the rear, the Flaminia GT is a well-balanced and extremely pleasant car to drive.

The GT was to undergo a few changes: in 1962, a GTL version with two extra seats was offered and in 1963, it was equipped with the new 2.8-liter V6. In the end, Touring produced 2,016 coupes of both versions. Our Flaminia rolled off the assembly line on October 22, 1959, making it one of the very first examples produced. It featured a black body combined with a beige interior. Under the hood, we find the 2.5L V6 equipped with a single carburetor| we note that it is indeed its original engine. This American car is an interesting basis for restoration. It has suffered

a front right shock that is largely repairable, and is almost complete: for example, it has all its windows. It is accompanied by its US registration and its customs clearance certificate. This is a rare car in «barnfind» condition that will allow its new owner to undertake a complete restoration allowing him to have a truly restored car, which is rare for this model, as most of the cars on the market have only benefited from a paint job and rarely from a body restoration.
