Astonishing to some, the Miura might never have existed had it not been for the late-night design and engineering sessions between Paolo Stanzani, Gian Paolo Dallara and Bob Wallace, during which they conjured up what would become known as the world’s first supercar. As it goes, Lamborghini Founder Ferruccio Lamborghini was not interested in small, racy cars like those built by rival Ferrari. Instead, he preferred the more understated road cars of exclusivity and quiet power. The Miura was not at all of interest to him, until it was shown as a rolling chassis in 1966 and collected orders despite not having a body to show, and again in 1967, this time showing a prototype body.
Ferruccio signed off on Miura not expecting much, but little did he or anyone else know the reaction that car would set off and the history it would establish. The uniquely designed engine-transmission assembly, the astonishing body, the true two-seat interior design: it was more than just radical—it was an entirely new idea of how to build a sports car. To honor the accomplishment, Lamborghini’s Ad Persona division introduced the Aventador Miura Homage at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Only 50 were produced, each available with various cues to the Miura, including a color palette limited to the 18 used on the original, each with either a gold or matte silver lower section, as well as special appointments illustrating the unique vehicle. This 2017 Miura Homage is presented in Rosso Arancio and gold with the Terre Semele interior. Featuring all-wheel drive and powered by the 6.5L V-12 engine with an automatic transmission, this car has traveled only 1,481 miles from new.
Inside, passengers will be treated to unique Miura Homage elements such as custom embroidered upholstery, badging and luxurious elements like power windows, power locks, power mirrors, power seats and a Sensorum sound system, along with a host of other technology. Behind the Pirelli P Zero-wrapped Gold AppTech 10-spoke wheels are red brake calipers, sustaining the spice of the Miura Homage.
