The Jaguar S-Type was technically a more sophisticated development of the Jaguar Mk. II, offering buyers a more luxurious alternative. Available with either 3.4 or 3.8-litre XK engines and featuring slightly longer rear bodywork amongst other subtle styling and interior changes. These developments allowed it to corner faster than previous models, offering significant improvements in road holding, safety and ride comfort. It was described as “a convenient family car, a businessman's express, a sports coupé as well as a grand tourer”. Dry-stored for many years, this exciting example represents the opportunity to restore one of history’s classic marques.
A glimpse back to the 60s, this classic offers the new owner the opportunity to strip down and rebuild this once highly desirable 3.8 litre model. Driven into its current resting place some 28 years ago, the engine still turns over, albeit only by hand now. Amazingly, it has just two previous recorded owners and whilst the condition certainly presents a challenge in places, the car is thought to be complete and, with many parts now difficult to find, this in itself is certainly a bonus. Supplied with a useful history file, this fascinating project is offered without reserve.
