Restyled for 1968, Ford’s Fairlane also gained a Torino subseries as an upscale version of Ford’s popular intermediate. Available in three body styles, the hardtop model provided a formal roofline that added elegant styling to the new Torino’s luxury characteristics. As a GT, this 1968 Torino hardtop also boasts a performance image with lower rocker panel stripes, black-out grille and bucket seats. A factory S-code car, the Torino is powered by the top-of-the-line 390 CI big-block that has been updated with a Holley Street Avenger carburetor along with polished valve covers and air cleaner.
Yellow with a black vinyl roof and side stripes, the hardtop is also nicely equipped with automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, a full-length center console with storage compartment and floor shifter, and dual exhaust with bright tips. Custom pinstriping and a hood with black striping and scoop have been added to enhance the appearance. Cooper Cobra radial G/T tires on Magnum 500 wheels provide both a sharper look and a more stable and comfortable ride. The Fairlane/Torino interior was also updated for 1968 with a 4-pod instrument panel plus a restyled dash pad and door panels.
The black interior of this 1968 Torino GT formal hardtop also includes the factory AM pushbutton radio and an aftermarket temperature gauge under the dash.
