Of the cars offered from the Roush Automotive Collection, Roush Racing Chassis No. RK-174 (MMR-024) was designated specifically for road racing and serves as the only known example of driver Matt Kenseth’s road racing scheme. Kenseth was the 2003 Winston Cup Champion, and according to former NASCAR crew chief and former general manager of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing Robbie Reiser, this chassis became the backup road course chassis for the 2003 season after a 33rd-place finish in the 2002 Sirius Satellite Radio NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen. It’s considered to be among the best examples of Kenseth’s cars from the winning season.
The car hosts its Roush Racing 358 CI Ford V-8 engine with a Moroso distributor, Roush Race Proven ND160 alternator, and Stant high-performance radiator cap, backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. It wears black and yellow No. 17 DeWalt livery, with a ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems and Richardson Racing Products racing seat, Willans racing harness, AutoMeter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite gauges and Memory tachometer, fire suppression system and roll cage inside. The pavement twisties are met by 4-wheel Brembo disc brakes with slotted rotors, 15-inch black race wheels and Goodyear Eagle radial race tires.
