One of only 139 UK 456 M GTAs, perhaps the ultimate road-going GT car of the day. Supplied new in right-hand drive by Maranello Sales in Egham on 26/06/2002. Finished in Tour de France Blue with a superb interior in Nero leather. Only 26,508 miles from new. Serviced regularly by both main dealers and top specialists throughout. Last major service in May 2019 at a mileage of 26,477 (ú4,289) In its time, the Ferrari 456 was the fastest production four-seater in the world.
Powered by what was essentially a detuned version of the engine powering the 550 and 575, the new 5.5-litre V12 unleashed no less than 436 bhp and, except for the F40, the 456 was the most powerful road car developed by Ferrari up to that point. Pininfarina worked its magic on the 456 to create a subtly beautiful curvaceous body contrasting with the hard edges of its predecessor. Aerodynamically efficient, the 456 remained stable up to its maximum speed of around 190 mph. Acclaimed on its debut, the 456's styling has not dated and is a tribute to Pininfarina's vision in creating one of most beautiful vehicle designs of modern times.
The 'Modificata' 456 M appeared in 1998, starting with chassis number 109589 and it incorporated a number of changes, including improvements to the aerodynamics and cooling. The interior, still featuring Connolly Leather, was thus freshened up with new seats and other detailing. The updated 456M, which was the last Ferrari model to use pop-up headlamps, was replaced in 2004 by the 612 Scaglietti. This privately entered car is one of only 139 UK 456M GTAs and has covered just over 26,500 miles from new.
It was supplied by Maranello Sales in Egham on 26-6-2002 and has been serviced regularly and fastidiously maintained by both main dealers and top specialist dealers throughout, with the last major service being carried out in May 2019 at a mileage of 26,477, at a cost of ú4,289. It comes with the complete, leather-bound original book pack including the full service and maintenance history (with invoices as well as the official service stamps), all the original handbooks and even the original torch! It presents really well in the metal and should definitely be viewed prior to the sale.
The colour combination of TDF Blue and Nero leather really suits the car and it drives superbly with a seamless automatic transmission. Guided sensibly today it looks amazing value when one considers it's cost new which was in excess of ú200,000, just 18 years ago.
