Named after Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace and the home of his legendary company, the 360 Modena launched in July 1999 to members of the American motoring press as the successor to the outgoing and highly regarded F355. The product of a four-year development cycle, including over 5,000 hours of wind-tunnel testing alone, the 360 Modena delivered stunning 183 MPH performance with its mid-mounted all-alloy, DOHC 3586cc V-8 engine bristling with Ferrari’s legendary race-proven engineering wizardry. In 2000, the 360 Modena came for the first time with the lightning-quick, race-derived F1 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters for manual shifting as desired.
Immediately upon introduction, the 360 Modena silenced any lingering doubters by lapping Ferrari’s Fiorano test circuit some 3 seconds quicker than the outgoing F355 and even out-accelerating Porsche’s vaunted twin-turbo, all-wheel drive 959. Not only did the 360 Modena redefine Ferrari V-8 road cars at its debut, but it also remains one of the finest modern exotic sports cars today, and its handsome body design pays silent homage to the 246 GT Dino of the early 1970s. A success for its maker, 360 production included 2,389 U.S.-sold Spiders.
Finished in Ferrari’s signature Rosso Corsa, complemented by a Cuoio Naturale leather interior, this 2003 360 Spider’s odometer reads 14,002 miles at the time of writing. Power is delivered by a 3.6L DOHC 40V all aluminum V-8 engine and Ferrari’s race-derived, single-clutch F1 6-speed paddle-shifted transmission, a powerful combination that is harnessed by 4-wheel disc brakes incorporating drilled, slotted and grooved, vented brake discs and Rosso color-coded brake calipers. Riding on factory 18-inch Ferrari alloy wheels mounting Continental low-profile tires, this open-air 360 Spider also features iconic Scuderia Ferrari front-fender badges and a color-coded tail light panel.
