For those who like trucks with style, this two-door 2014 Chevrolet Silverado defies convention with its over-the-top powertrain modifications, but it otherwise looks almost new. And that is because this sport cab design is only showing 3,000 miles since new. However, under the hood and looking like it was born there is an LT4 supercharged engine. This remains the most powerful production engine ever offered in a General Motors vehicle, and here it fits like it could have been installed by the factory.
Rated at approximately 600 HP on a 6.2L small-block platform from the factory, LT4 highlights include the 1.7L Eaton supercharger, lightweight valvetrain, Rotocast aluminum cylinder heads, dual-equal cam phasing and direct fuel injection, which allows for the 10.0:1 compression ratio, plus active fuel management and cylinder deactivation. On this truck, a Snow Performance methanol injection system and cold air intake have been added as well. In OEM installation, the LT4 has been reserved only for Corvette, ZL1 Camaro and Cadillac CT5-V since its release, making this a unique truck by any standard.
Behind the engine is a 6-speed automatic transmission, and this truck has power steering and 4-wheel power disc brakes. The stance seen here is achieved in part by a lowered suspension using CalTracs HD rear springs. The body itself is finished in black with a matching bed cover and soft bed insert. Open the doors to find the light gray cloth interior, which retains OEM appointments. That includes air conditioning, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, digital gauges, a power driver’s seat, fold-down console with cupholders, and steering-based audio controls. The choice of 22-inch, chrome-finish, 10-spoke wheels and a set of modern low-profile Nitto tires are the finishing touches here.
