The Z06 was originally developed as a race-ready package for the all-new 1963 Chevrolet Corvette. The package brought chassis enhancements including a 20% thicker front anti-sway bar, larger and stiffer shocks and springs, and high-performance brakes with a vacuum brake booster and a dual master cylinder. The Z06 also employed a 36.5-gallon fuel tank. The only engine available was the fuel-injected L84 327/360 HP V-8. Costing an additional $1,818.45 above the coupe price of $4,252, Chevrolet would later make the gas tank a stand-alone option to help lower the price. Only 199 Z06s were made for 1963, and the Z06 package would vanish until 2001.
This C6 might be one of the most pampered Z06s in the world. Showing a mere 676 miles on the odometer at the time of consignment, this 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 presents largely as new, and is evidenced with a log book of miles showing 36 dates of when the car was driven and stored. Presented in Atomic Orange, the 2LZ-trimmed car is powered by the dry-sump 427/505 HP LS7 V-8 and a 6-speed manual transmission, and features a lovely roster of options and accessories. A few highlights of the Titanium Gray leather interior include the AM/FM/CD player with DVD navigation, a leather shift knob and boot, a leather handbrake handle and boot, and a leather hatch cover.
Various Z06-emblazoned appointments add a little identity to the Corvette, and the interior features body-colored elements, including the console and center stack. A gaggle of surprises come with this Corvette, including the GM 100th Anniversary Palau Mint coin and a 25th Anniversary NCRS pewter belt buckle—number 241 of only 300 produced. The car also comes with an ocean of documents, including the window sticker and a collection of sales brochures, various copies of “Automobile Quarterly,” and the first 12 years of the NCRS quarterly magazine ranging from 1974 to 1985.
Continuing to honor the original concept of a high-performance, race-ready Corvette, the Z06 remains one of the most dynamic sports cars on the planet, and this is a particularly special example.
