Cadillac Motor Car Division celebrated its 50th year in 1952 by introducing the new 1952 models as the “Golden Anniversary Cadillacs.” Styling was not changed significantly from the previous year, but the sporty Style 6267 Series 62 convertible was still the glamour queen of the line. This restored 1952 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is finished in striking Olympic Blue, which brilliantly shows off its attractive lines. The massive grille, with integrated round parking lights and wraparound chrome-plated front and rear bumpers, is accented by appropriate gold Cadillac V-badges, which are featured on both the front and rear of the body.
The center front of the hood is topped by a modern stylized version of the chrome-plated Flying Goddess mascot, first used in 1930. The interior of this Cadillac is trimmed in red leather with plush, red carpet and a matching red and white instrument panel with a dash clock and AM radio. This Cadillac is also equipped with power windows, power seats and a tan cloth convertible top with a red vinyl boot. Power is supplied by Cadillac’s 331 CI OHV V-8 developing 190 HP with a Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor. The power is transmitted to the rear axle by an improved dual-range 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission with manual control of third and fourth gear.
This 4,419-pound Cadillac is carried by wide whitewall tires mounted on optional Kelsey Hayes chrome wire wheels with distinctive Cadillac center caps. Saginaw hydraulic power steering was a first for 1952, and it greatly assisted steering effort by as much as 75%, making the 1952 Cadillacs more enjoyable and safer to drive. This convertible is also equipped with the optional Cadillac Autronic Eye headlight dimmer system, operated by a red receiver mounted on the upper left side of the instrument panel. This Cadillac would not only be a real crowd pleaser at any Cadillac and La Salle Club event, but would also be a highlight of any 1950s car collection.
