The GNX or Grand National Experimental was made in concert with McLaren Performance Technologies/ASC and highlights an overhauled and improved powertrain, suspension and instrumentation. The 3.8-liter 6-cylinder engine is equipped with a Garrett turbocharger that makes 276hp and 360 ft/lbs of torque and is mated to a 4-speed programmed automatic transmission. The interior features two-tone black and gray fabric with embroidered GNX logos on the headrests, as well as GNX logos on the entryway boards and around the instrument group.

The GNX exterior badging is unique to the front grille, trunk and turbocharger heat shield, and on the dashboard is the car number plaque showing this is car #119. The bumpers were furnished from the industrial facility with vents rather than the Grand National seals.
