For the 1959 Buick Electra, the standard engine was the 401 CI Wildcat V-8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, producing 325 HP and paired with a 2-speed Dynaflow automatic transmission. Standard equipment included power steering and power brakes utilizing Buick’s unique 12-inch finned aluminum brake drums. Power windows, power seat adjustment and leather interiors were standard on the Electra 225 convertible.
Other standard Electra features included a horizontal redline speedometer, 2-speed electric windshield wipers, a trip mileage indicator, a cigar lighter, dual sunshades, a Step-On parking brake, dual horns, the Twin-Turbine automatic transmission, Foamex seat cushions, an electric clock, trunk and glovebox lights, power steering, power brakes, full wheel covers and dual exhaust. Additionally, Electra 225s came standard with Super Deluxe wheel covers, an exterior rearview mirror and a padded dashboard.
