Premiered at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the Bentley Mulsanne revived a famous name from its maker's recent past on its introduction in 2010. The twin-turbocharged pushrod V8 engine's traditional 6.75 litres capacity suggested that it was a straightforward carry-over from previous models, but in fact it was an extensively revised design incorporating a new cylinder block. One of the mightiest of passenger car power units, Bentley's 6.75-litre V8 produced its maximum of 505bhp at 4,200rpm, with a staggering 752lb/ft of toque available at a lowly 1,750 revs.
Virtually new from stem to stern, the Mulsanne was built in two different wheelbase lengths on a chassis incorporating both steel and aluminium elements. Each individual Mulsanne was hand built, assembly being undertaken by a team of employees assigned to each unit, with particular attention paid to making the many welds required invisible. Bentley offered over 120 exterior paint colours and the option of a custom colour to the customer's choice, while the final part of the painting process was a 12-hour polish to 'mirror finish'.
Mulsanne standard equipment included air suspension; 20" wheels; soft-close doors and boot; keyless entry and ignition; a sunroof; and parking sensors. Luxuriously appointed in the best traditions of the marque, the interior featured four-zone automatic climate control; heated 14-way power-adjustable front seats; eight-way adjustable rear seats; rear-window privacy power glass; an 8" touchscreen infotainment system; and an outstanding 14-speaker stereo. In addition, Bentley offered a range of packages and accessories for customising the interior. At time of launch the UK base price was £220,000, and when production ceased in 2020 approximately 7,900 of these spectacular cars had been completed.
This Bentley Mulsanne is currently in the hands of the third owner, its custodian since April 2019 when he purchased the car from Bramley Motor Cars. Since acquisition the Bentley has been serviced on five occasions:
