Bentley made Le Mans their spiritual home, especially having won six straight victories in the past and so it is no surprise, their flagship car should be named after the most famous bit of straight road in the world. The Mulsanne. This model replaces the hugely successful Arnage and was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2009. The hugely successful 6.75 litre, as used in the previous Arnage was retained although now lighter and featuring cylinder de-activation and variable cam phasing to improve fuel efficiency. Customers had a choice of 114 paint colours, 21 carpet colours, nine wood veneers, and an incredible 24 interior leather hides.
The thing about dealer demonstrator examples are that they are there to show of everything that model has to offer. Lucky then, that this is one of these rare examples offered at the Leicester Bentley agent. It is the pride and joy of the vendor and is superb in every way. It benefits from the expensive ‘Launch Pack’ with radar distance cruise control, veneered iPad drawer and picnic tables and additional minor gauges. Complete with the flying ‘B’ radiator mascot, it is finished in Brodgar (silver grey metallic) with a linen-coloured leather interior complemented with Highland Hare (dark grey) carpets.
Additional options include stainless steel door pillar finisher, ambient interior mood lighting, rear view camera, TV, DAB Radio and 21" classic alloy wheels. Having covered just 41,150 miles, garaged and only ever cleaned by hand, it is therefore, obviously, in excellent condition throughout. Importantly, the service history is also beyond reproach. Bentley Leicester main agents of course, for the first four services, August 2011 at 10,363 miles, July 2012 at 15,915 miles, July 2013 at 17,856 miles and June 2014 at 19,748 miles. The next three services took place at Bentley Cheltenham in April 2015 at 22,560 miles, January 2015 at 29,585 miles and November 2016 at 36,309 miles.
Finally, in November 2018 at 40,855 miles at HR Owen in London. The driving experience is like no other luxury car, the sumptuous interior appears at odds with the effortless power available and the ability to carry its passengers in ultimate comfort up to 190mph. It ticks all the boxes and is, frankly, outstanding.
