At the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, British sports car legend Aston Martin unveiled the Rapide, essentially a 4-door fastback version of its DB9 sports car. Built from 2010-2020, this high-performance sports saloon featured Aston’s 5.9L V-12 engine mated to either a 6- or 8-speed ZF Touchtronic automatic transmission. Based on the DB9’s VH platform, the Rapide made extensive use of cast and extruded aluminum in the chassis and mechanicals, as well as the incorporation of a polycarbonate roof, to lower the 4-door sedan’s weight to just 4,299 lb.
Under the hood, the Rapide’s AM11 5.9L, DOHC, 4-valve, V-12 engine produces 470 HP and 443 lb-ft of torque making it capable of launching the Rapide and its four passengers from 0-62 MPH in just 5.1 seconds, with a top speed of 188 MPH. The example on offer is a 2010 Aston Martin Rapide finished in black with a tan leather interior and sports just 18,556 miles on the odometer.
