A well restored, UK-supplied 1750 Spider Veloce with reams of specialist invoices. Registered in the UK on the 18/05/1970 to the first of four owners. Very few right-hand drive 1750 Spider Veloces were destined for the UK. Late Series 1 with a 1,779cc alloy, 4-cylinder, Twin-Cam engine and 5-speed gearbox. Subject to a total restoration between 2011-12 with an extensive photographic record. Extensive maintenance invoices from marque specialists Alfaholics come to some ú6,836. A new mohair hood was fitted in 2015, the mileage is 53,266 (atoc) and the MOT is valid until March 2021.
A modern classic by Pininfarina, the simple yet elegant open Spider bodywork that premiered on the 1966 Duetto would prove enduringly popular, lasting into the 1990s. The Spider's mechanical underpinnings were essentially the same as those of the Giulia saloon, comprising independent front suspension, coil-suspended live rear axle, and four-wheel servo-assisted disc brakes, while the engine was the Giulia Sprint GTV's 1.6-litre, double-overhead-camshaft four. The Duetto was made for just two years before being superseded in 1967 by the 1.8-litre '1750' Spider Veloce, whose nomenclature recalled that of a famous Alfa Romeo of pre-war days.
Produced until 1970, the 1750 retained the Duetto's 'round tail' coachwork at first, later examples gaining the sawn-off Kamm-type tail that would characterise the following 2000 model. This rare right-hand drive 1750 Spider Veloce was sold new in the UK to the first of four owners on the 18th of May 1970. It received a total restoration between 2011 and 2012 and the history file includes an extensive photographic record of the works. From 2012, the noted Alfa Romeo specialists Alfaholics of Clevedon, Somerset maintained the car, and the relevant invoices amount to some ú6,836. The car was fitted with a new black mohair hood in 2015.
Offered from a private collection of Aston Martins and other exotica, our vendor tells us that he's had his fun with the car since 2018 and wants someone else to enjoy it. With an odometer reading of some 53,266 miles, at the time of cataloguing, this very pretty little car is supplied with a UK V5C, a detailed history file and an MOT until March 2021.
