This new, road-going McLaren, however, was completely designed and built in-house and incorporated extensive use of carbon fiber and other technologies developed within McLaren’s winning F1 program. In 2011, the MP4-12C made its debut and set the automotive world alight. Over the course of the following decade, McLaren went on to refine and develop this road-going supercar into a continuous series of ever faster and more capable models. In 2020, McLaren debuted the 765LT, a track-inspired, long-tail version of the 720S. Equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.0L M840T V-8 engine that was tuned to produce 755 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque and mated to a 7-speed, dual-clutch, automatic transmission, the 765LT was capable of launching from zero to 62 MPH in a neck-snapping 2.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 205 MPH.
