This is not an ordinary Dodge Ram. It is a 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Regular Cab, one of the most unusual production pickup trucks in automotive history. The VIN structure, manual transmission, and ten spark plugs listed in the repair estimate identify it as the SRT-10 powered by the 8.3-litre V10 derived from the Dodge Viper. The vehicle arrived at DEIZ AUTO GENERAL REPAIRING CO in Dubai with only 16,910 km on the odometer. Despite its exceptionally low mileage, it is now more than 20 years old. As a result, the repair list is extensive: a major service, replacement of the principal fluids, suspension and driveline repairs, an oil-leak repair, and cooling-system maintenance. The total estimate is AED 24,405.73, including 5% VAT. All prices in this article are taken from the provided DEIZ repair estimate: The document is an estimate and does not confirm payment or completion of every listed operation. What Makes the Dodge Ram SRT-10 Unique? The Ram SRT-10 was created by the Street and Racing Technology division around a concept that still sounds outrageous today: installing a Dodge Viper engine in a full-size pickup truck. Under the bonnet is a naturally aspirated 8.3-litre, 505-cubic-inch Viper V10. Its factory specifications include: 500 hp 525 lb-ft, or approximately 712 Nm, of torque Rear-wheel drive Six-speed Tremec T-56 manual transmission Hurst gear shifter A 4.56 final-drive ratio for the 2005 model year The model’s official technical information and history are available in the Stellantis press archive. Unlike the four-door Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab, which used an automatic transmission, the two-door Regular Cab was fitted with a manual gearbox. It is therefore the more driver-focused version of the SRT-10. In 2004, a production Ram SRT-10 set an official speed record for production pickup trucks. It achieved a measured average speed of 154.587 mph, or 248.783 km/h, over a flying kilometre. According to the manufacturer, the truck could accelerate from zero to 60 mph in the low-five-second range. That remains an impressive figure for a heavy, rear-wheel-drive pickup. The SRT-10 is special for more than its performance numbers. It combines an American pickup body, a naturally aspirated supercar engine, a manual gearbox, and very little electronic interference between the driver and 712 Nm of torque. Why Does a Truck with Only 16,910 km Need Major Repairs? The mileage of this Ram SRT-10 is exceptionally low, but the vehicle’s age is now more important than the number shown on its odometer. After more than 20 years, the following components can deteriorate even when the vehicle is rarely driven: Engine gaskets Transmission oil seals Suspension joints and protective boots Driveshaft universal joints Rear leaf-spring bump stops Brake and cooling fluids Transmission and differential oils Ignition wires Battery Windscreen wiper blades In Dubai, natural ageing is accelerated by extreme heat. The engine compartment around a large V10 already operates at high temperatures, while a parked vehicle may remain exposed to ambient temperatures above 40°C for hours. Even when the truck is stored indoors and driven infrequently, rubber hardens, gaskets lose elasticity, the battery discharges, and fluids absorb moisture or lose their original properties. This estimate should therefore be viewed as a comprehensive recommissioning of a rare collector vehicle, rather than a conventional repair caused by high mileage. Major Engine Service The major service includes: Engine oil replacement New oil filter New air filter Ten new spark plugs New ignition wire set Brake-fluid replacement The service is allocated five labour hours and costs AED 2,450. The materials include two five-litre containers of ROWE HIGHTEC SYNT RS HC-D SAE 5W-30 engine oil, costing AED 750 in total. The oil filter costs AED 41.25, while the new drain plug costs AED 80. The air filter costs AED 200. Ten spark plugs cost AED 525, or AED 52.50 each. The ignition wire set costs AED 536.25. Two litres of ROWE DOT 4 fully synthetic brake fluid cost AED 150. Including these parts and materials, the major service costs AED 4,732.50 before VAT, or approximately AED 4,969.13 including VAT. Why Replacing All Ten Spark Plugs and the Ignition Wires Matters The V10 uses ten spark plugs, one for each cylinder. A minor misfire may not be immediately obvious because the remaining cylinders can partially conceal the problem. However, a worn plug or deteriorated ignition wire can cause: Rough engine operation Increased fuel consumption Reduced performance Catalytic-converter overheating Engine-management fault codes Difficult hot starting Dubai’s heat can accelerate deterioration of ignition-wire insulation. Replacing the wires together with the spark plugs is therefore a sensible precaution, particularly when the previous replacement date is unknown. After the service, the engine should be scanned and the misfire counters checked to confirm that all ten cylinders are operating evenly. Engine Oil and Dubai Operating Conditions The estimate specifies ROWE 5W-30 engine oil. Before filling the engine, the workshop should confirm that the selected product satisfies the requirements of this specific engine and vehicle. For a rare Ram SRT-10, oil selection should be based on more than viscosity alone. The workshop should consider: The required manufacturer specification Actual oil pressure Oil temperature in extreme heat Intended driving conditions Internal engine condition Previous modifications Moving to a thicker oil simply because the vehicle is being used in Dubai is not automatically the correct decision. The choice should be based on the manufacturer’s requirements and the engine’s actual condition. After the oil change, the level should be checked on level ground and inspected again after the first extended drive. Valve-Cover Gasket Replacement The most expensive mechanical operation in the estimate is replacing the valve-cover gaskets. Labour is allocated eight hours and costs AED 3,920. The estimate includes two gasket sets at AED 675 each, bringing the parts total to AED 1,350. The complete operation costs AED 5,270 before VAT, or AED 5,533.50 including VAT. This is the most expensive individual repair in the estimate. Valve-cover gaskets harden over time and eventually begin to leak. A V10 has more sealing area than a conventional four- or six-cylinder engine, while access to certain fasteners may require the removal of surrounding components. In Dubai’s climate, minor oil sweating can quickly develop into a visible leak. Oil may reach hot engine or exhaust components, producing a smell inside the cabin or smoke from the engine compartment. After replacement, the workshop should: Remove old oil residue Check the valve covers and sealing surfaces Follow the specified tightening sequence Avoid overtightening the fasteners Reinspect the engine after several complete heat cycles Complete Coolant Flush and Replacement Labour for flushing and replacing the coolant costs AED 980. The estimate includes two five-litre containers of ROWE 12+ AN-SF antifreeze, costing AED 267.30. The complete operation costs AED 1,247.30 before VAT, or approximately AED 1,309.67 including VAT. The condition of the cooling system is critical for an 8.3-litre V10 in Dubai. High ambient temperatures reduce the radiator’s available cooling margin, while the engine produces considerable heat even during normal city driving. The service should include checks of: Main radiator Cooling-system pressure and cap Expansion tank Hoses and clamps Thermostat Water pump Cooling fans Proper system bleeding Operating temperature in traffic with the air conditioning running Replacing the coolant alone is not a substitute for pressure-testing the entire cooling system. Manual Transmission Oil Replacement The Ram SRT-10 Regular Cab is equipped with a six-speed Tremec T-56 manual transmission. Labour for replacing the transmission fluid costs AED 245. The materials list includes eight litres of ROWE HIGHTEC ATF 9000, costing AED 920. According to the structure of the estimate, this fluid appears to cover the manual-transmission and power-steering services, although the exact allocation between the two systems is not specified. Despite the ATF name, using an automatic-transmission-type fluid in certain manual gearboxes is normal. The T-56 can use a specific ATF-type fluid when it meets the required specification. Before filling the gearbox, the workshop should confirm that the selected ROWE product is compatible with the Tremec T-56 installed in this Ram SRT-10. During the service, the workshop should also inspect: The old fluid for metallic debris Drain and fill plugs Transmission seals Synchroniser operation Cold and hot gear selection Clutch and hydraulic system condition Rear Differential Oil Replacement Labour for replacing the rear differential oil costs AED 245. Three litres of ROWE HIGHTEC TOPGEAR SAE 75W-90 HC-LS cost AED 375. Two new differential-cover plugs cost AED 153. The complete differential service costs AED 773 before VAT, or AED 811.65 including VAT. The HC-LS designation indicates a lubricant intended for limited-slip differentials. The correct fluid is essential in a rear-wheel-drive pickup sending up to 712 Nm through the rear axle. The old oil should be inspected for: Metallic particles Signs of overheating Water contamination Damaged plug threads Abnormally dark colour Debris collected by magnetic plugs, if fitted After the service, the vehicle should be checked for unusual noises during acceleration, overrun, and slow cornering. Power-Steering Fluid Replacement Labour for replacing the power-steering fluid costs AED 735 and is allocated 1.5 hours. The estimate does not include a separate fluid line specifically for the power-steering system. It is likely that part of the eight litres of ROWE HIGHTEC ATF 9000 is intended for this operation, but this should be confirmed with the workshop before the work begins. The power-steering system operates under demanding conditions in Dubai. Its fluid can become extremely hot during city driving, parking, and repeated low-speed manoeuvring. Deteriorated fluid may accelerate pump wear or cause noise when turning the steering wheel. The service should also include an inspection of the reservoir, pump, hoses, and connections for leaks or oil sweating. Front and Rear Sway-Bar Links The estimate includes replacement of the front and rear sway-bar links. Front replacement labour costs AED 441. Rear replacement labour also costs AED 441. The two front components cost AED 496, while the two rear components cost AED 238. The complete sway-bar repair costs AED 1,616 before VAT, or AED 1,696.80 including VAT. Worn sway-bar links can create knocking noises over small road imperfections, particularly when crossing speed bumps at an angle. Their joints and protective boots can deteriorate with age even when the vehicle has covered very little mileage. The sway-bar bushes and surrounding rubber components should be checked at the same time. Replacing only the links may not eliminate all noise if the bushes are also hardened or cracked. Front Lower Ball-Joint Replacement Labour for replacing the front lower ball joints costs AED 686. Two ball-joint kits cost AED 750. The complete operation costs AED 1,436 before VAT, or AED 1,507.80 including VAT. The ball joints directly affect steering accuracy, stability, and safety. The front suspension of this heavy pickup is under constant load from the large V10 engine. A wheel-alignment check should be performed after replacing the ball joints. Alignment is not listed in this estimate and should therefore be arranged separately. Driveshaft Universal-Joint Replacement Labour for replacing the driveshaft universal joints is allocated three hours and costs AED 1,470. Two new universal joints cost AED 528. The complete repair costs AED 1,998 before VAT, or AED 2,097.90 including VAT. This is one of the most important repairs in the estimate. The driveshaft must transfer up to 712 Nm to the rear axle, so play or binding in a universal joint should never be ignored. Worn universal joints can cause: Vibration during acceleration A knock when selecting first or reverse gear A metallic click when the load changes Shuddering at a particular speed Accelerated transmission-seal wear Damage to the driveshaft or rear axle After replacement, the workshop should check the driveshaft’s phasing, alignment, balance, flanges, and mounting points before carrying out a road test. Rear Transmission Oil-Seal Replacement Labour for replacing the transmission output-shaft seal costs AED 490. The new seal costs AED 180. The complete operation costs AED 670 before VAT, or AED 703.50 including VAT. Performing this job together with the driveshaft work is logical. Once the driveshaft is removed, access to the transmission output shaft becomes much easier. After completing the repair, the area should be thoroughly cleaned and checked again after an extended drive. If old oil residue remains, it may be difficult to determine whether the leak has been completely resolved. Rear Leaf-Spring Bump-Stop Replacement Labour for replacing the rear bump stops costs AED 294. Four new bump stops cost AED 1,400. The complete repair costs AED 1,694 before VAT, or AED 1,778.70 including VAT. The bump stops limit rear-suspension compression and prevent hard contact between suspension components. Their rubber or polyurethane construction can deteriorate because of age and heat. This is particularly relevant in Dubai due to extreme temperatures and the large number of speed bumps found around car parks and residential entrances. The workshop should also inspect the rear leaf springs, Bilstein shock absorbers, bushes, and rear sway-bar mountings. New Battery The new battery costs AED 1,674.75. Replacement labour costs AED 98. The total is AED 1,772.75 before VAT, or approximately AED 1,861.39 including VAT. Battery life in Dubai is often shortened by high temperatures. A large V10 also requires strong cranking performance, particularly after the vehicle has remained parked for an extended period. After installing the battery, the workshop should check: Available cranking current Alternator charging voltage Battery terminals Parasitic current draw Starter performance Battery mounting If the Ram SRT-10 is driven infrequently, connecting it to a suitable intelligent battery maintainer is advisable. New Windscreen Wiper Blades Two wiper blades cost AED 85, while installation costs AED 49. The complete replacement costs AED 134 before VAT, or AED 140.70 including VAT. Wiper blades in Dubai deteriorate even when they are rarely used. The rubber dries out in the sun, becomes contaminated with dust, and may begin leaving streaks after a single hot season. The windscreen-washer system and fluid should also be checked before the summer and rainy seasons. Complete Service and Repair Cost The total labour charge is AED 12,544. Parts and materials cost AED 10,699.55. The subtotal is AED 23,243.55. The 5% VAT is AED 1,162.18. The final estimate is AED 24,405.73. The principal expenses include: Major engine service — AED 4,732.50 before VAT Valve-cover gasket replacement — AED 5,270 before VAT Transmission and power-steering service with fluid — AED 1,900 before VAT Front and rear sway-bar repairs — AED 1,616 before VAT Driveshaft universal-joint replacement — AED 1,998 before VAT Battery replacement — AED 1,772.75 before VAT Rear bump-stop replacement — AED 1,694 before VAT Front lower ball-joint replacement — AED 1,436 before VAT Cooling-system flush — AED 1,247.30 before VAT What Is Not Included in the Estimate? The estimate covers a substantial amount of mechanical work, but it does not include several important checks. Before driving the Ram SRT-10 hard, it would be advisable to inspect: Tyre age and condition Brake discs, pads, and hoses Clutch and hydraulic system Radiator and cooling hoses Cooling-fan operation Auxiliary belt and pulleys Fuel hoses and pressure Air-conditioning system Bilstein shock absorbers Engine and transmission mounts Exhaust system Suspension geometry 22-inch wheel balance The tyres require particular attention. Because of the low mileage, old tyres may still look almost new while having lost much of their flexibility and grip. On a 500 hp rear-wheel-drive pickup, that represents a significant safety risk. How to Maintain a Ram SRT-10 in Dubai Once the work is completed, the truck should undergo a careful verification period. The first drives should avoid hard launches and maximum engine speed. The engine, transmission, and rear differential should reach full operating temperature, after which the vehicle should be inspected again from underneath. Particular attention should be paid to: Oil around the valve covers Transmission output-seal tightness Driveshaft vibration Coolant temperature Engine oil pressure Power-steering operation Suspension noises Levels of all newly replaced fluids A covered parking space is strongly recommended for this type of vehicle in Dubai. Climate-controlled storage is even better. Long-term exposure to direct sunlight accelerates deterioration of the interior, seals, wiring, rubber parts, wiper blades, and paintwork. Where Is the Vehicle Being Serviced? The estimate was prepared by DEIZ AUTO GENERAL REPAIRING CO in Dubai’s Port Saeed area. The workshop handles servicing, complex mechanical repairs, diagnostics, tuning, and projects involving premium and rare vehicles. Further information is available on the official DEIZ website. For a vehicle of this significance, every stage should be properly documented: Record the mileage Photograph identified faults Record installed part numbers Retain diagnostic results Keep rare original components Document the brands and specifications of all fluids A complete maintenance history increases confidence in the vehicle during a future sale. Dodge Ram SRT-10 on AUTO.AE This truck belongs to the third-generation Dodge Ram, known as the DR/DH and produced between 2001 and 2009. Generation information, body styles, and specifications are available in the Dodge Ram III DR/DH catalogue on AUTO.AE. Current vehicles from this generation can be checked in the Dodge Ram III DR/DH listings on AUTO.AE. The Ram SRT-10 Regular Cab is considerably rarer than conventional Ram versions powered by Hemi or Cummins engines. When evaluating an advertised vehicle, buyers should verify the engine, transmission, body style, VIN, and originality of the SRT-specific components rather than relying only on the listing title. Conclusion Servicing and recommissioning this Dodge Ram SRT-10 at 16,910 km is estimated at AED 24,405.73 including VAT. That is a substantial amount, but the work extends far beyond a conventional oil change. The truck receives a major engine service, ten new spark plugs, ignition wires, brake and cooling fluids, transmission and differential servicing, a new battery, suspension repairs, driveshaft work, and oil-leak repairs. The main conclusion is that low mileage does not stop a vehicle from ageing. On a rare 500 hp pickup powered by a Viper engine, it is essential to maintain not only the engine but also every system responsible for transmitting power, controlling temperature, and keeping the truck stable. Once the work has been properly completed, verified, and documented, this Ram SRT-10 can remain more than a static collector’s item. It can continue to be a fully functional example of one of the most extraordinary periods in American performance-car history.
