The Regera is powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a redline at 8,250rpm, paired with three electric motors (two at the rear wheels and one on the crankshaft), producing a combined output of 1,500bhp and 2,000 Nm of torque at 4,100rpm. The car features the Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD) system — a patented, single-speed gear solution that couples the engine and the electric motors to the rear axle, replacing the traditional multi-speed transmission, reducing weight and drivetrain drag, with rocket-launch acceleration. As a result, the car is capable of accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, from 0–300 km/h in under 10 seconds and 0-400 km/h in just over 20 seconds – a world-record number. Yet, despite this savage performance, the Regera also offers electric-only propulsion for silent low-speed urban use. The carbon fiber monocoque chassis and body are wrapped in sculpted carbon panels, with active aerodynamics including an automatically deploying rear wing and hydraulically adjustable ride height and damping, inducing a total down force of 450 kg at 250 km/h. This two-door two-seater has a removable structural hardtop stowable under the front hood and lightweight anti-roll bars front and rear. For driving in changeable conditions or commuting to the track, the car offers the proprietary Koenigsegg Electronic Stability Control System with four setting for Comfort, Wet/Snow, Sport and Track, underlining the vehicle's versatility.
