This “shoebox era” quickly became part of Hot Rodding as well, as these cars had ample space for engine modifications and were often available at reasonable pricing as the 1960s changes took hold. This example, created around a well-presented two-door 210-series coupe, lives up to that legacy with changes befitting a 21st-century build-up. Carefully fitted under the hood of this car is a Speed and Performance LS1 V-8 crate engine with polished-runner fuel injection, body-matched engine covers and carefully-chosen accessories. Polished stainless exhaust with Carriageworks tips complete this effort, with the modern engine coupled to a 4L60E automatic transmission and Currie 9-inch type differential. Also visible up front is a Be Cool aluminum radiator and the detailed brake components, which are coupled to this car’s upgraded 4-wheel power disc brakes. The exterior is near-monochromatic in appearance, with rich orange paint covering the panels, accented nicely with the factory chrome trim. This theme continues inside with like-toned upholstery rendered in Ultraleather by Kustom Auto in Mena, Arkansas. There are significant upgrades in here as well, such as the polished Ididit tilt column capped by a Billet Specialties steering wheel. In the dash are Classic Instruments white-faced gauges, while the JVC 12-disc CD-changer allows for wonderful music selection even on the highway; custom pedals and chrome dash paneling complete these upgrades. The one-piece front and rear smoothie bumpers are the finishing touch on the body itself, with the car riding on classic Boyd Coddington Stingray wheels featuring low-profile tires and an attractive stance from every angle. Of course, callouts and emblems denoting the Chevrolet origins remain visible on the hood, rear fenders and deck area. Mixed up in a fashion that exemplifies the best of Hot Rodding today in a timeless body style, this gorgeous ’56 Chevy is ready for your enjoyment. https://www.mecum.com/lots/327412/1956-chevrolet-210-resto-mod/
