My weekdays are for the city, but my weekends are for the desert. And that's exactly what my Nissan X-Terra is for. It's not a fancy, comfortable city SUV. It's a tough, honest machine that comes alive when the pavement ends.

Driving it in Dubai has its pros and cons. On Sheikh Zayed Road, it feels a bit heavy and the ride is firm. The 2.5-liter engine is not the most powerful for quick highway sprints. But you forgive all of that the moment you point it towards the dunes. Its high ground clearance and robust build are perfect for a Friday morning desert trip. The air conditioner is strong enough to keep up, even when we're crawling through soft sand.

Inside, it's all about practicality. It's easy to clean after a dusty adventure, and there's plenty of space for our camping gear. It's not luxurious, but it feels incredibly durable.

So, who is it for? It's not your everyday family SUV. It's for the adventurer, the camper, the person who uses their weekend to explore the real landscape of the UAE. For that purpose, it's absolutely brilliant and surprisingly affordable to run.
