Based on the 998cc Mini City, the 1990 Checkmate featured chrome bumpers, a black grille, and Minilite alloy wheels. .
The Mini Checkmate was a 1990 special edition of just 2,500 cars offering some very desirable extras and enhancements. Powered by 998cc inline four-cylinder engine, produced 42 bhp at 5,250 rpm. First registered in 1990, this little mini has been in current ownership since 2019. Finished in British Racing Green with signature white roof and sitting on Minilite alloys. Another feature of the Checkmate package is sports orientated fabric upholstery. The addition of a tachometer and the relocation of the instrument binnacle to behind the steering wheel gives the Checkmate a sporty appeal and a more ergonomic feel.
