The Rover P4 was presented at the London Motors Show in 1949, designed by Gordon Bashford, it was produced until 1964. It is characterized as a mid-size luxury saloon affectionately called "Auntie Rover". It is characterized by its aluminum doors and its rear suicide doors. Several evolutions equipped with 6 and 4 cylinder engines will follow one another. The P4 100 was presented on October 24, 1959, equipped with a new 2.6-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine derived from the P5's 3.0-liter engine, which was intended to be torquey and melodious. It has a luxurious interior with leather upholstery and wood trim on the dashboard and around the windows.

A typically British "Shepherds Crook" type curved handbrake is also present. The 100 was equipped with heating, front disc brakes and overdrive as standard. In the end, 16,521 examples were produced until 1962. With its characteristic look, the P4 is an integral part of the British culture, it has been used by the royal family or Grace Kelly.

The car we are presenting was put into circulation on May 5, 1960 in the suburbs of London. It will have known 4 owners in England before being imported in France in 1976. The former owner acquired it in 1997 before selling it to its current owner in 2017. The car is today in its original right-hand drive configuration and has a two-tone brown and black paint. The bodywork was redone many years ago and is in average condition today. There are traces of corrosion on the non-aluminium body parts and on the chassis. The interior is in a good state of preservation, the leathers are still the original ones, the upholstery has simply been re-tinted about 20 years ago.

Mechanically, the car works perfectly, its engine, which is the original one, starts at a quarter turn and its overdrive is functional. The car comes with an important file retracing its history as well as its user manual.
