1978 Renault 16 TX French registration document Chassis no. 0154684 - The most sought-after and best-equipped TX version - Restored by Renault Classic for the model's 50th anniversary - A pleasure to own, easy to maintain and drive Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1965, the R16 was the first French car in its class to feature a hatchback saloon body. In 1974, the TX received a 1,647 cc engine producing 93 hp, paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
It was the first French car to feature central door locking, electric front windows, a sports steering wheel, a laminated windscreen and inertia-reel seat belts. The R16 was a comfortable car with good road holding and sold very well, with 1,800,000 units produced. This Collection TX is in exceptional condition, with 68,517 km on the clock, apparently its original mileage. Renault acquired it in 2015 to mark the model's 50th anniversary. It was already in superb condition when purchased, but following extensive work by the Renault Classic team, it is now magnificent!
The interior is trimmed in beige cloth that looks like new, and the dashboard is flawless. The engine has been completely overhauled. The paintwork has a magnificent shine; it would be hard to do better. It is impossible to find another 16 TX like this on the market.
