Call in the heavy artillery, and when you need it, this reworked TRX is where it’s at. The crew at Hennessey Performance Engineering make no excuses for upgrading the factory 702 HP to over 900 roaring stallions on their Mammoth 900 conversion. This is Build No. 23 of this model from Hennessey’s Texas shop and shows 2,955 miles on the odometer. The company reworked the solidly designed OEM package’s supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine, which is now rated at 918 HP and 873 lb-ft of torque, showing a true 150 HP increase over stock in a chassis dyno showdown.
The changes made here include the ported supercharger snout, upgraded supercharger drive pulley and hub assembly, and fresh high-flow fuel injectors with a HPE retrofitted TRX-exclusive air filtration system. Computer PCM and ECM recalibration complete this. This is backed by an automatic transmission, and the suspension package from the factory is designed to manage any environment. Adding the HPE Off-Road package meant this Mammoth received custom front and rear bumpers, LED lights added onto the front bumper, and Hennessey and MAMMOTH 900 exterior identification on the rich black paint.
Inside, this TRX is pretty upscale with its carbon fiber interior accents, dual-zone climate control, power steering and brakes, tinted glass and premium factory audio equipment. There are now Hennessey embroidered headrests as well. Each TRX is built around the RAM crew cab design and features fender flares, and this one uses the undercarriage-mounted spare, running boards, raised-relief emblems, dual outside mirrors and the functional hood scoop. Coupled with the black paint and lack of any additional chrome gives this Mammoth 900 a sinister look even to those who are not aware of Hennessey’s understandable notoriety with these builds.
The final touch would be the forged 10-spoke Hennessey wheels and grapple-design Goodyear Wrangler LT325-65R18 all-terrain tires. Sure, the as-built TRX is as brutal as anything to ever emerge from the showroom. Still, if “too much is just enough,” this truck just might be the ticket.
