2012 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup By Brumos | 4.0L Grand-AM Spec Engine, Sequential transmission with Auto-bip for downshifts, MoTeC Data Acquisition System, original blue and red stripes over Carrera white paint, approximately 30 hrs on vehicle, used in one season of NASA amateur racing series, never had damage or needed repair, chassis# WP0ZZ99ZCS798181, 4th consecutive chassis number out of 5. In the 2011 GRAND-AM Rolex Series competition, Brumos Racing was just three points out of the lead heading into the season finale at Mid-Ohio. Andrew Davis and Leh Keen started the final championship race at the back of the pack due to an electrical issue in qualifying.
Davis began the opening stint and worked his way up from 19th place to the lead. Keen was handed the car under a yellow flag condition and held his place to take the 2011 Rolex GT Championship home to Brumos Racing in Jacksonville, Florida. Brumos later wanted to commemorate the special car that took home the team, driver, and manufacturer titles, so they campaigned the last 5 North American-spec GT3 Cup cars imported to the U.S. and put on the special Brumos touch. On behalf of Brumos, Porsche Motorsport North America installed a Grand-Am spec 4.0L engine, producing approximately 450HP. This was perhaps the first time that Porsche Motorsport N.A. has issued a limited edition of a race car.
They added some carbon fiber bits in the interior, polished rear spoiler uprights, and that iconic Brumos livery that took home the Rolex GT Championship. Only five of these GT3 Cup cars were created by Brumos. The cars were delivered at Brumos' shop in Jacksonville, Florida. The five cars were delivered as followed: #798178 to Ron Thomas in Ohio, #798180 to Leh Keen and his father McGrath Keen, #798183 to Michal Fux in New Jersey, #798179 to Jerry Seinfeld, and finally this example #798181 to John Crosby in Louisiana, where the car has lived its entire life.
This specific example (#789181) was raced briefly in NASA amateur club racing (approx 1 season, ~25hrs), and a handful of private track days. The current owner of 5 years has not once driven the car. This car retains the original engine, transmission, suspension, interior, and bodywork, with approximately 30 hours on the bunch. This car will include two extra sets of wheels and tires and a special edition book from Brumos outlining their effort to win the championship in 2011. Not included, but available for separate purchase is an original Nicolas Hunziker painting on canvas that commemorates the original car driven by Andrew Davis and Leh Keen.
