Updated styling swept across the Pontiac lineup for 1940 with integrated headlights and more refined streamlining. This 1940 Pontiac Deluxe Street Rod moves a few steps further along with a chopped top, a custom upfront flame job over white paint and an airbrushed American diner scene on the rear decklid. In place of the original Pontiac flathead inline engine is a small-block Chevrolet V-8 topped with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor backed up by a dual exhaust and automatic transmission with B&M shifter. Power brakes are a welcome upgrade. Dual side-view mirrors and adjustable spotlights accent the exterior brightwork.
Inside, a Grant wood-rim steering wheel with chrome skull suicide knob works with adjustable bucket seats, SunPro gauges and a Pioneer hi-watt CD stereo for control, comfort and entertainment. The Pontiac Deluxe rolls on Cragar 5-spoke wheels shod with raised white-letter radial tires.
