Pontiac narrowed its Grand Prix lineup for 2004, eliminating the 2-door coupe in favor of 4-door bodies across the board and employing curvaceous styling. The GTP’s new Competition Group package was a pleasant surprise to enthusiasts, maximizing driver involvement through the use of anti-skid control, variable ratio power steering, a quicker final drive ratio, performance suspension, heads-up display and a paddle-shift automatic; high speed tires and Red painted brake calipers were also included. Driven by a supercharged 3.8L V-6 engine and registering just 2,356 actual miles, this 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP “Comp G” was one of only 2 used in pace car duties in the 2003 NASCAR season, in which it last ran at the Subway 400 at Rockingham in February.
