At the Geneva Motor Show in March 1984, Peugeot presented the sporty version of its small 205 city car, launched a year earlier: the 205 GTI. Initially offered as a 1.6L version with 105 hp, it became available with 115 hp as an option in March 1986; by the end of that year, the option had become standard, and another version, a 1.9L developing 130 hp, was also available. The GTI in this sale belongs to the first series, with Jaeger instruments, and remains the most sought-after today. It was sold new on December 7, 1984, by the Peugeot Ortelli garage in Hyères and has had only two owners.
The first, a certain André Clavel, kept it from 1984 to 2010 before selling it to the current owner. But the incredible thing is its very low original mileage: 33,400 km! Just imagine the exceptional condition this 205 is in. It has just been completely serviced, with four new tires, replacement of overly dry silent blocks, rear brakes, the timing belt and water pump, and, of course, all fluids changed. Its interior is immaculate, fresh as if just out of the dealership; its carpets are superb, and the paintwork is in first-class condition.
Many 205 GTIs have suffered harsh treatment at the hands of successive owners; some have even been tuned. It is therefore truly rare to find an original example, supplied with all its service books and manuals and in such condition—especially in the same color as when it was launched. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CAR IS SOLD WITHOUT A VALID ROADWORTHINESS INSPECTION.
