Planned to be named 629 for 6 HP and 1929, this model will go down in the history of the brand as the first to respond to the new three-digit naming system with the central zero, which will then be used on all future models of the brand.
The 201 is powered by a 1122cc side-valve 4-cylinder engine with 23 hp and a three-speed gearbox. With a weight of about 890 kg, the newcomer reaches a top speed of 85 km/h and has a fuel consumption of 8 to 9 liters/100km. The 201 also benefits from a wide range of body styles: sedan, 4-seat torpedo, coupe, convertible, commercial and utility. Thanks to its many assets, the 201 was an incredible success with the public.
In 1933, the Lion innovates with the 201 B which adopts a chassis called «bloctube», more rigid, made up of side members and tubular crosspieces, as well as a more aerodynamic body with a windscreen grille, wraparound wings, a hood with rectangular flanges and bullet headlights. It also received a new 1.3-liter engine developing 28 hp. The car we present was restored at great expense at the end of the 1980s (an estimate for the restoration of the upholstery, mechanics, brakes, steering and bodywork is on file). It appears today in a very nice state of presentation. The engine is not blocked, and even if it will be necessary to find an original carburetor, the mechanical restart seems easy.
