The one year only 1998 Evo V GSR is a rare sight on UK roads and this wonderfully presented, Scotia White example has now been further developed and offers over 530bhp. Dating from 1998, this fifth generation Lancer GSR was imported from Japan on 07/05/2014 and has been with its only UK keeper for 11 years. A one year only model, its 2-litre, DOHC, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine now used an upgraded intercooler, enlarged nozzle area in the twin-scroll turbocharger, lighter pistons, an upgraded radiator and oil-cooler to produce 280bhp.
The Evo V featured a bigger bodyshell giving Mitsubishi the opportunity to extend the previous model’s platform, increasing brake and wheel size, adding 10mm to its track and displaying, for the first time, flared arches and much more aggressive styling. It was imported as a non-runner but was soon rejuvenated by our vendor. It failed a little later and the decision was taken to rebuild it with a 2.2 'stroker' kit utilising a Billet crank, BW I-beam conrods, CP pistons, BC cams & valve springs and a GT3076HTA BTCC spec full frame turbo setup. We understand that the current output is in excess of 530bhp.
There is a substantial amount of UK paperwork with the car detailing the relevant expenditure. The Evo has covered just 25,909km (16,099 miles) which sounds feasible as it has been with our vendor for 11 years and previously in storage for six years. A superb example of a rare model finished in Scotia White and definitely worthy of your close inspection.
