MG began making its T-series sports cars in 1936, shortly after the company withdrew from racing on the orders of its new owner Morris Motors. The first generation TA introduced hydraulic brakes, better suspension tuning, a reliable and responsive pushrod 4-cylinder engine and a 4-speed gearbox borrowed from the Morris 10. After the war, production resumed and so did the evolution of the T series. Each successive model of which was imported in large numbers to an American market with an appetite for European-style sports cars. The TF sweeping bodywork, optional wire wheels and an inline-4 rated at 63 HP.
Like its predecessors, the TF offered responsive road manners and superior handling, perfect for the club racing that became so popular after the war. This 1954 MG TF roadster hails from a private collection in the Southwest and represents one of the most sought after models of the MG brand. It features stunning red paint with a lovely black interior and matching top, all nicely accented with chromed wire wheels. The interior is classic MG: octagonal Jaeger instruments, folding windshield, an original steering wheel, bucket seats and front-opening “suicide” doors.
