There is a reason why Mercedes-Benz’s classic sports cars, like the SL-Class variant of the R107 generation, have never lost their appeal to enthusiasts. The handsome body lines, classy interior and convertible top made it the perfect companion for summertime driving, a reputation that precedes it to this day. Overtaking the previous W113 generation, the SL R107 was focused on conquering the North American market with various engine choices and horsepower ratings. From 1986 to 1989, the 560SL was a more powerful and final variant with a 5.6L engine exclusive to the U.S., Europe, Japan and Australia.

All of Mercedes-Benz’s efforts were not in vain, as the SL-Class R107 and its SLC-Class C107 sibling sold 204,373 units in the United States.
