Derived from the 570S coupe, the McLaren 600LT raised the concept further as the fifth McLaren model to carry the “LT” suffix in the tradition of the McLaren F1 GTR Longtail that took the GT1 class 1 victory at the 1997 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In addition to its revised body configuration, the 600LT and subsequent 600LT Spider feature minimal weight, aerodynamic enhancements, increased power output and a decidedly track-focused character. For its part, the open-air 600LT Spider provides an experience bordering on sensory overload with its ultralight retractable hardtop that opens with the push of a button and retracts out of sight underneath its tonneau cover in just 15 seconds.
Built to extract maximum performance from its midmounted “M838TE” twin-turbo 3.8L engine, the 600LT features extreme lightness and rigidity with its unique carbon fiber MonoCell II chassis. Tweaked for an additional 30 HP, the engine of the 600LT and 600LT Spider is matched to a 7-speed, twin-clutch automated manual transmission with launch control standard. Featuring a flat-plane crankshaft, the twin-turbocharged V-8 engine delivers a factory-rated 592 HP at a screaming 7,500 engine revolutions. That extra output is due mainly to an improved water pump design and a fire-spitting, low-backpressure exhaust.
Weighing under 3,200 pounds, the 600LT and 600LT Spider deliver a huge performance envelope including 0-60 acceleration in 2.8 seconds and top speeds of 201 MPH with the roof closed and 196 MPH with the retractable hardtop lowered. McLaren Adaptive Damping suspension and carbon ceramic brakes rein it in. This 600LT Spider was built in April 2019 and is one of just 345 produced. Creature comforts of this surprisingly well-appointed supercar include a high-end Bowers and Wilkins sound system with SiriusXM satellite capability and Bluetooth. Diamond-cut, lightweight wheels mounting Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires provide road contact. Additional items include a car cover and window sticker.
