The early Land Rover Series are commonly referred to as the ‘Series’ models to distinguish them from later Defenders. It is thought, incredibly, that 70% of those vehicles are still in use today, a superb achievement for any motor manufacturer. The 2.5 litre diesel engine, dependable & torque-rich, powers adventurers and sportsmen alike with its classic boxy silhouette offering the ultimate utilitarian charm.

This example of the famous 4x4 marque features an amazing 11 seats and removable canvas cockpit cover, albeit somewhat damaged now. Originally registered in May 1988, this has been in the previous vendors tenure for over 31 years with only two former keepers recorded. It presents in ‘rough & ready’ Signal Red with contrasting classic white steel wheels, four Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tyres with deep treads at each corner with an additional bonnet-mounted spare with a multi-height towball to the rear. All seats, front and rear, are in serviceable condition and the rear floor area has been roughly decked in wood.

Starting easily, it is due to be driven to the sale and so, combined with an MoT test certificate and service (invoice on file), this Tdi Defender should provide an ideal combination of reliability, practicality and fun. Interestingly, the vendor relates a story of when he transported an entire junior cricket team to a match last summer. Perfect team transport! Consigned by Edward Bridger-Stille
