Estimate: £80,000 - £120,000 GBP

  • Iconic Italian Gran Turismo, Mille Miglia and Le Mans Classic eligible
  • 3 times Goodwood Revival veteran
  • Registered in the UK since 1958
  • Restored as a race car in the 1990s
  • Thorough body restoration in 2018, Up-rated engine, transaxle, suspension and brakes
  • FIA Historic Technical Passport for racing and rallying valid until 31/12/2029

An image within the car's history file shows it, painted red, at auction in 1985. Four keepers are recorded before the current vendor's acquisition in early 2017 as a well-sorted race car, back in its original green. A thorough body restoration took place early 2018. Photographs are available on file

B20-2849's competition history goes back to 1990, including Chimay, Monza and on three occasions at Goodwood Revivals as well as numerous UK club events. The vendor raced in the 2018 Goodwood Revival Fordwater Trophy with onboard data showing over 100mph along Lavant Straight.

Race upgrades include an Aley Bars half cage, alloy foam-filled fuel tank, custom steel wheels to enable fitment of 15" tyres, external electrical cut-off, polycarbonate side windows, rear centre rain light, hand-held fire extinguisher along with an in-date 2.25L fire extinguisher and Spax telescopic shock absorbers. Front brakes are twin leading shoe 5th series internals, with bespoke aluminium angled-fin drums for improved heat dissipation and lighter unsprung weight, professionally balanced at Vibration Free.

The engine was built utilises a 5th series block for extra rigidity, shell main bearings and big ends, 79mm pistons, plus Tim Burrett's race-developed camshaft profile, timing chain tensioner, cylinder head and valve gear rework giving enhanced performance, continuing beyond 5000rpm, whilst retaining reliability and road flexibility. The transaxle, operated by a Nardi floor change, has a close ratio gear set with Flaminia drive shafts. The seals were refreshed and the clutch re-lined in early 2023 by Tim Burrett.

Breathing is helped by an original Nardi inlet manifold with dual twin-choke Webers, complimented by tubular exhaust manifolds leading to a Bell stainless steel twin silencer system. Further improvements include an aluminium-cored radiator with Kenlowe fan, lightened flywheel, external oil cooler and spin-on oil filter adaptor.

New period-style black leather bucket seats have been installed with twin Schroth FIA-homologated road legal harnesses for race, rally or road, date valid to 2026. Hand-held fire extinguisher is in date to end of 2025.

A new speedometer cable (original Brantz timer interface supplied separately). and horn have been fitted and fluids replenished amid other general recommissioning work in 2024, although the buyer should perform their own checks before further major competition.

Eligible for a host of prestigious historic events, this beautiful Aurelia B20 GT is ready to enjoy. The Le Mans Classic and Vernasca Silver Flag hillclimb were part of the vendor's future plans but regrettably that has had to change, hence being offered for sale. This delightful Aurelia is ready for further use.
