Latest in a line of spectacular supercars from Lamborghini stretching back to the iconic Miura of 1966, the Aventador was launched at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, replacing the ageing Murcièlago as the Sant'Agata factory's flagship model. Designed by Filippo Perini, the new mid-engine coupé borrowed heavily from Lamborghini's limited edition Reventón and the Estoque concept car. One of its more striking features was the scissor doors - a 21st Century supercar 'must have'.

Like its predecessors, the newcomer was powered by a V12 engine, in the Aventador's case an all-new 6½-litre unit producing 690bhp. Power reached the ground via a seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox and electronically controlled four-wheel drive transmission. A top speed of 349km/h (217mph) was claimed by the factory, yet the French Sport Auto magazine managed to wind 'their' car up to 370km/h (230mph).

The original Aventador LP700-4 was phased out after five years in production, since when there have been numerous progressively improved versions, plus, of course, the inevitable 'special edition' models. The final Aventador variant - the LP 780-4 Ultimae - was announced on Lamborghini's social channels in July 2021, with production limited to 600 units (350 for the Coupé, 250 for the Roadster). Incorporating all the standard features of the Aventador S and SVJ, the Ultimae is the most powerful of the Aventador family, having a maximum of 780bhp at 8,500rpm on tap and the same 531lb/ft of torque as the SVJ.

Lamborghini claims a 0-100km/h (0–62mph) time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 355km/h (220.5mph). When Lamborghini announced that the production of all Aventadors would cease by the end of 2021, it made the last-of-the line Ultimae all the more collectible.

Paying homage to this most successful model, Lamborghini had this to say: "Technical innovations and an instantly recognisable design have made the Aventador Lamborghini's biggest V12 success, with more Aventador vehicles sold than the total of all previous V12 models. The final model has it all: the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae combines the most iconic engineering and design elements from the Aventador S and SVJ for the ultimate V12 driving experience."

The Ultimae Roadster we offer has covered 'delivery mileage', having only been driven for the photo shoot and to get it on and off the transporter.
