A well presented example of Jaguar’s innovative AJ6-powered XJ40 from long-term ownership and offered without reserve. The 1991 Jaguar XJ6 belongs to the XJ40 generation (1986–1994) , a model that represented a significant technological leap for Jaguar by introducing more modern electronics and a cleaner, more angular design. While it maintains the classic British 'gentleman's express' feel, it is often noted for its distinct rectangular headlamps (on Sovereign models) and improved AJ6 straight-six engines. By 1991, Jaguar had addressed many of the early XJ40's electrical gremlins, replacing the problematic digital dashboards with traditional analogue dials.
The 4.0-litre AJ6 is widely considered the best and most reliable engine in the XJ40 range, offering a useful 223bhp and 278lb/ft of torque. First registered in 1991, this smart XJ40 has been owned by our vendor since 2007, having formed part of a private collection during that time. This smart example presents really well in Diamond Blue over a classic XJ interior in Saville Grey leather with Chiltern Tweed panels and the usual figured hardwood veneers.
