Several significant upgrades have recently been performed on this show-stopping 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster to improve both performance and durability.

Derived from the full-race D-Type sports racer that won three Le Mans 24 Hours amidst countless other important international races, the E-Type was a dramatically new design with a shape so beautiful it was described by Road & Track magazine’s Peter Egan as looking like “a car we’d always known about but had never met, a natural shape waiting since Greek times for a modern Praxiteles to chisel away all the stone that didn’t look like an E-Type.” Adorned in the almost formal combination of metallic silver paint with a black bucket-seat interior and black top, this 1967 Series 1 roadster has been stored in a climate-controlled facility.

Lifting the one-piece front clip reveals the car’s competition-bred double-overhead-cam inline-6 engine, one of the smoothest running powerplants of its time. Displacing 4.2L and rated at 265 HP, it has been balanced and blueprinted and upgraded with performance camshafts, stainless-steel tube headers and exhaust system, and a heavy-duty radiator. The stock 4-speed manual transmission was replaced with a more flexible Getrag 5-speed, which drives a 3.31:1 limited-slip differential. The car is also equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes.

Identified by the chromed wire wheels and covered headlights that were signature features of these early E-Types, this 1967 Series 1 is a fine performer that is widely considered the best of all E-Type series models made.
