Ford introduced the Thunderbird in 1955. The car was developed to compete with the Corvette, which it did very successfully. In its inaugural year, the Ford Thunderbird outsold the Corvette twenty-three to one. For the 1955 model year, Ford produced 16,155 examples of the Thunderbird. The first generation Thunderbird was produced through 1957.

This 1955 Ford Thunderbird has benefitted from a frame-off restoration. It’s reported the car has been driven 1,000 miles since. The Thunderbird is presented in what appears to be its original factory shade of Torch Red (paint code R). The car comes with both a white soft-top and a Torch Red removable hardtop. The vehicle rides on whitewall tires with wire wheel covers. The back tires are covered by body-color fender skirts. The Thunderbird is powered by a 292-cid, 198-hp V-8 engine and features an engine dress-up kit. The engine is paired to a three-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission.

The interior of the car is completed in two-tone red and white, the way it left the factory (trim code B). Interior features include bench seating, heater and a radio. Power options on the car include four-way power seat and the addition of power steering. Included with the car is a spare tire and jack.
