A fastback one-off design that has a custom aluminum lift-off roof, this Mustang also exhibits a prototype body that was redesigned for Ford by Eric Black with a build executed by Hollywood Hot Rods. Using an otherwise stock 2014 Ford Mustang GT Convertible as the base, the artisans at Hollywood Hot Rods combined the styling elements of exotic European supercars with the road manners and manageability of road scorching American muscle cars.
Touting 650 horsepower on “mild tune” with up to 700 available, this custom Mustang is driven by its supercharged (by Ford Racing) and intercooled 5.0-liter four-valve Ti-VCT V-8 engine that is matched with a six-speed manual transmission. The powerplant features a Banks “Straight Shot” water / methanol injection system, California Pony Cars engine dress-up accessories and the power sweetly resonates through an HHR custom oval tube stainless steel side exhaust.
The chassis hasn’t been overlooked in this exceptional build. Attributes includes Cortex Racing X-treme grip complete coil-over front suspension system, the rear is the same manufacturer with torque arm coil-over suspension and Watts link, JR coil-over shocks with PAC performance coil springs (front and rear), StopTech front “big brake” kit with six-piston calipers and 15-inch rotors while the rear are Steeda with 13-inch rotors. A four-point rollbar by Hollywood Hot Rods helps keep the occupants secure in this high-powered machine.
The interior is a collaboration by Hollywood Hot Rods and Elegance Auto Interiors and evokes the spirit of the Ford GT cabin, which is sporty and ergonomically friendly. Relaxation is provided by the 4,000-watt Kicker sound system from Art of Sound.
The lowered lift-off fastback roofline is accented by matching aluminum trim pieces and a redesigned rear section that shows lower body airflow strakes. The aluminum trim components include a flat front splitter, diffuser, rear wing, and rocker package. Aluminum mesh and rivet detail are consistent with the beautiful build quality that is exemplified throughout the platform. No custom car is complete without industry-leading Forgiato wheels; with 21-inch in the front and 22-inch in the rear, the proper stance is set to show off while keeping the performance aspect at the forefront.
By accenting the baseline Mustang with complementing detail accessories, converting the suspension and chassis to “full race” capabilities, and dramatically increasing the power on hand, Hollywood Hot Rods has created a distinctive and dramatic edition that will garner attention and respect as it puts many noteworthy and exclusive cars on notice.
