Upon its introduction in 1979, the Fox-Body Mustang breathed fresh life into Ford's enduring pony car. After years meandering with the Pinto based Mustang II, the Fox was unleashed from the get-go with a range topping V8 motor, unlike its predecessor. While early iterations continued the trend of speed alluding sticker packages, the Mustang now had the performance to back it up. Advancing into the high-tech 1980s, the range of fastback, notchback, and convertible body styles were supplemented by the introduction of the turbocharged 2.3 liter Lima engine. Reaching its ultimate potency in the much sought after SVO Mustang of 1984, this model superseded even the 5.0 powered GT within the Mustang Range.
There can be very few cars anywhere in the world that can state that they have a mere 26 miles on the odometer, even delivery miles tend to accrue greater figures, but here today we present a 38 year old sportscar that has precisely that figure. Even a cursory glance around it supports this 100%, since the Mustang still carries its original plastic seat coverings, labels in the windows, paper foot mat cover, everything...
Of course, since red was the favored color of both generations of collectors the Ford was bought in Bright Canyon Red, with an interior of white seats and read carpets and trim. In a collection which favored the blue oval, this is the most modern in the group, and although purchased new, it does appear to have ever been used by the collectors. Its mechanical condition is unknown and so it will require careful checking over before running. Aesthetically, its top was covered in protective wrapping as are the seats, it has however been stored for many years and has light age to it as a result of this. Quite possibly the lowest mileage Fox bodied Mustang anywhere in the world – it is the archetypal collectible car.
