The heavy-duty Ford Model AA truck was available in two different wheelbases configured in everything from Panel Body and Stake Beds to post-production specials like this 1929 Ford AA Chicago Police Department Paddy Wagon tribute truck. Ford AA truck Serial No. A474530 is powered by a recently tuned up 200.5 CI L-head 4-cylinder engine good for 40 HP with a single 2-barrel updraft carburetor.
The famously dependable Ford banger is backed by an AA truck 3-speed transmission with manual reverse lockout, low-ratio rear axle, 4-wheel mechanical brakes and heavy-duty suspension factory engineered for hauling heavy loads such as bottled Moxie out to market or Prohibition-era Chicago Outfit henchmen back to the hoosegow. The Paddy Wagon tribute is ready to head out to the show on AA truck wire wheels with chrome caps and Firestone heavy-duty tires. The steel-chassis cab body with rear steel fenders and express box are finished in black topped with a chrome-plated stone guard and Chicago Police-themed lettering.
Period-correct dual front and rear red emergency lights join an authentic heavy-duty fender-mount siren. The AA Truck cab features a factory 4-spoke steering wheel and tan upholstered bench seat along with a hardwood Billy club and custom-mounted Tommy Gun also known as the “Chicago Typewriter.” Out back a custom-built folding step leads into the wagon outfitted with bench seats, prisoner ankle bracelets, custom-welded steel-bar window frames and grab bars. The Paddy Wagon tribute comes along with a commemorative pin in loving memory of Chicago Police Commander Paul R.
Bauer, who was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a subject who had attempted to flee from other officers on February 13, 2018. It also features reproduction historical wanted posters and gangster-era clipboards of Al Capone and Baby Face Nelson to finish off the appropriate period look and feel.
