Beautifully restored 1965 Galaxie 500 Convertible. This car is a mild custom that has been nosed, decked, dechromed and smoothed. It has been taken down to bare metal and the body work was professionally done, then it was painted a dark black cherry and polished in a high luster. The front suspension was rebuilt with new ball joints, new idler arm and all bushings were replaced, including upper and lower control arm bushing with new tie rods and new sway bar bolts and bushings. It was then treated to a new four-wheel power disc brake setup, new shocks and new emergency brake cables. The brakes have slotted and drilled rotors, and all new brake lines were then installed.
The floor was painted with a rust-inhibitor paint, then insulated with a space-age insulation to keep road noise to a minimum. The original 352ci engine and automatic transmission were rebuilt just before the current owner bought the car four years ago. Under 2,000 miles since the rebuild, the engine has been given dressup kit to add a little sparkle, then treated to a new dual exhaust system. The seats were taken down to the bare frame, sand-blasted and painted. New foam and padding were installed with a new interior kit from Dearbourne classics finished off the car. A new top and glass rear window were installed, along with a new top well and boot.
The stainless parts were polished, the bumpers and inside windshield garnish moldings were re-chromed, and a new tinted windshield was installed. The addition of Boyd Coddington Crown Jewel mag wheels with new low-profile tires were added, allowing a nice stance. This car looks and drives great.
