A very low-mileage, 'time warp' example of Ford’s more humble variant of Escort, offered directly from a fabulous private collection. A truly 'time warp' example of Ford’s immensely popular Escort MkIV, presented in fabulous original condition. Powered by Ford’s 1,597cc CVH engine producing c.90bhp mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, offering the smooth and reliable performance that helped cement the Escort’s reputation as Britain’s best-selling car. Just 5,877 miles from new, with usage averaging less than 200 miles per year over its lifetime.
Supplied new in 1988 to its lady owner, finished in blue with a grey cloth interior, specified as the five-door 1.6GL variant, the car joined our vendor’s private collection of ‘best of the best’ Fords in 2011. The car retains its original Bill of Sale showing a purchase price of £8,800, along with the V5C, service book (two stamps), and every MOT from 1991 to 2010. It has always been garaged in a heated environment, helping preserve its factory paintwork, interior trim and underbody condition. The car runs and drives well, having had a minor refresh in preparation for sale, however as it has formed a static part of our vendor’s collection, it currently doesn’t have an MOT.
Still showing just one owner from new on the V5C, this is an exceptionally well preserved, ultra low-mileage, ultra low ownership example, presented in excellent condition making it a superb addition to any serious Ford or low-mileage classic collection.
