This 1982 Ford Escort XR3 is a highly developed, class-winning classic touring and race car, presented in road-registered, historic specification, offering outstanding versatility for track days, hill climbs, sprints, and road use. With historic vehicle status, this exceptional example can be driven to events, test days and competitions with ease, subject to road regulations. This Escort has recently benefitted from thousands of pounds in upgrades and refurbishment. It has been driven on both road and circuit and consistently draws huge attention and admiration wherever it goes. The car retains a current V5 registration document, with a recorded 63,000 miles on the dash, though it is believed to have been re-shelled in the past.
Specification highlights include new GAZ Gold fully adjustable coilover suspension, Group A adjustable front arms, polybushed chassis, Nankang NS2R tyres, and a brand-new professionally fitted windscreen. Power comes from a 1.6 CVH engine fitted with Weber carburettors and open bell-mouth trumpets, supported by a DOT Worx exhaust system with tubular headers. Drivetrain upgrades include a five-speed gearbox with limited-slip differential, Vibra Technics engine and gearbox mounts a Facet Gold fuel pump system and a new plumbed in fire extinguisher
Further mechanical enhancements include Malpassi Filter King fuel system with gauge, Champion silicone HT leads, new uprated coil pack, NGK plugs, new alternator and belt, new battery, braided fuel and brake lines (Wezmoto), Wilwood master cylinders and reservoirs, Mintex pads, and a custom alloy header tank. The cabin is fully race-prepared with Sparco seats on FIA mounts, Sabelt harnesses, OMP suede steering wheel, Alcantara dash, safety devices full roll cage, race door pulls, lightweight polycarbonate side and rear windows with sliders, high-intensity rain light, and separately switched electric fan and fuel pump systems.
Styling includes RS1600i front and rear spoilers and genuine Ford Motorsport 15” alloy wheels, with a spare set of 14” wheels, carb spares, jets, and suspension components included. Additional items include new fuel and oil filters, Millers 10W-60 motorsport oil and freshly rebuilt carburettors.
