This custom 1955 Ford Crown Victoria Skyliner is powered by an upgraded crate Windsor 351ci V8 engine with Holley Sniper fuel injection, mated to a C4 automatic transmission. This example is one of 1,999 produced for the model year combining an acrylic glass roof with the new Crown Victoria styling. It is equipped with a 12-volt conversion, MSD ignition and distributor, March pulley system, Ron Davis aluminum radiator, new EPAS power steering system, front disc brakes with power booster and a dual-line brake system conversion. The exterior features fender skirts and whitewall radial tires. It is finished in a color-change respray in yellow and white.
The yellow acrylic glass hardtop extends over the front half of the interior, accented by the chrome “basket handle” that characterized the new design for 1955. The yellow tint to the acrylic keeps the interior bright, but a recently applied roof tint provides a filter from the sun. This car features Ford’s Magic Aire heating and ventilation system to heat and bring fresh air into the cabin. It also features the original, working AM radio with push-button tuning, while the original clock relies on periodic winding to keep time.
